Yesterday I had an operation on my ankle – this was to remove a pin/screw which was going through both bones of my right ankle.

Had the operation done at the Port Macquarie Private Hospital – and have to admit how impressed I was with the care I received. The doctors were great and the nurses were wonderful.

Anyway, it’s now almost 24 hours since the operation and everything seems to be going well. I had an ankle block which I think numbs the ankle a bit – and as such I haven’t had any pain in my ankle – well yet. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens there.  I have 3 stitches but I haven’t seen them as yet as they are covered by bandage.

I was able to walk immediately after the operation and was basically functioning like I usually do straight away. I did have an anti nausea tablet prior to the operation so perhaps that helped big time!  I feel pretty tired though – which I guess is too be expected after having had an operation – no matter how big or small.

I’m hoping that now that this screw has been removed I’ll be able to start walking more and further and lose some of the post baby weight and broken ankle weight (due to sitting around and not being able to do much!).

Will keep you posted on how things go in terms of pain, discomfort or whether it is all good. Hopefully it will all be good!
