Well, I had a really lovely weekend – surprisingly so…
Hubby went to Sydney for the weekend – leaving Daina and I and Claude home alone. We would have loved to have gone to Sydney – but the logistics of travelling with an 8 month old along the goats track known as the Pacific Highway – really didn’t thrill us greatly. And plus – we don’t have anywhere to stay in Sydney – despite hubby’s parents living there. (apparently they are resistant to the idea of putting in a bed for us to use and for us to stay! – make it of that what you will…)… So as a result, he went and stayed in Port with the bub and cat! And all in all we had a pretty good weekend.
Daina is crawling all over the place now and I think she is tiring herself out and is needing and wanting more sleeps now than she used to in the past. Which is good in some ways – but not so good when she refuses to go to sleep and gets very grumpy and irritable! But Saturday was lovely. We sang songs, played games and generally had fun.
I was a little worried about the evening though as she hasn’t been sleeping through the nights very well. She’ll wake anywhere from 2 to 8 times during the course of the evening. So by just after 7pm she was in bed. And there she stayed – with a couple of very minor squawks – which may have just been noises she was making in her dreams. (do 8 month old babies dream… I wonder???) And she woke at 5am. It would be better if she woke later – but 5am it was. So up for a bottle and nappy change and back into bed within 30 mins and then up for the day around 6.30…
We had another good day on Sunday. Went to the shops to get some ingredients to make a cake for hubby’s birthday. A delicious chocolate cake! Yum!!! And just to generally get out of the house. Then the rest of the day was spent doing what we usually do – reading, singing, playing etc and trying to squeeze in some naps and baking a cake. How one does it I don’t know sometimes!!! But did it we did.
Hubby got home in the late afternoon – in time to start the usual evening routine – of feeding Daina solids, us having dinner, bathing her and then giving her her bottle so that she is in bed by 7pm. All of that takes us nearly 2 hours. Never a good time to call. Anyway, we took some pics of the cake and presents with Daina and daddy – but I can’t post them here as he doesn’t want his photo on the blog…
And after the joy of the night before I was hoping for another equally good night last night. No such luck. Up every 2 hours. I’m just exhausted today… On top of that I’ve got a migraine. And when I was washing up I broke Daina’s food bowl and the contents of it went everywhere – all over the floor. That then necessitated a mop of the floor – so I ended up mopping the entire downstairs area. Oh joy – and it was only 10am by this time. Most of the morning she’s been a little grizzle guts – very tired – but just not settling when I try and settle her.
So at lunch time she had some baked pear and yoghurt. And I tried her on some spaghetti bolognaise we had last night. She wasn’t too keen on the spag unfortunately. But I’ll try again. She had half of what I had dished out for her – so that’s something I guess. She seems quite reluctant to try meats. I think dinner for Daina will be probably a try of some baked beans and then maybe some banana and possibly osme more yoghurt. She’s gone to sleep now – so I might do the same thing. Ahhh a nana nap!!
Hope you are having a better Monday than I am!
