Dead computer

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 27, 2008

y poor little laptop has had a terminal illness for a while and finally died over the weekend. Terminal hard disc failure, so we are waiting on a new hard disc to be shipped from Brisbane which will hopefully be here later in the week and then begins the fun of re-installing everything. Hopefully I haven’t lost all my favourites – but if I have it might be time to start using delicious for all my bookmarking…

I’m currently using hubbies work laptop and as a result will not have access to a computer or the wonderful world of the internet for most of this week. Highly unlikely that I’ll be back online before the weekend…

I’m sure my bloglines will be groaning under the weight of unread blog posts!!

HAve a great week and will post when I can!

Too tired to blogtoberfest

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 20, 2008

I thought I would just do a quick post…

I’m way tooooooooo sleep deprived to write. In the last 10 days or so, I have not been getting much sleep. Little Miss Daina is waking frequently. At most I am getting one hour sleep at a time throughout the night – to a maximum of 3 maybe 4 hours total sleep per night.  So I’m getting up to settle her frequently, some times it takes up to an hour and a half to resettle her to sleep and then me trying to get back to sleep – can take 2 mins or 50mins for me to get back to sleep and then she wakes again and we start that pattern all over again.  Am exhausted.

There are teeth very close, so I suspect they are the reason for her not sleeping.  Jeez I hope so… She was doing much better sleeping for 8-9 hours straight with no need for me to settle her – so this is just really hard….

Am going to have some dinner and crawl into bed. Someone please tell me it does improve.

Squares for Spare Change swap

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 17, 2008

I finally got around to posting a photo of the squares I’ve sent over for the Spare Change swap.

This is the first time I’ve ever done a swap and looking forward to see how it all goes. I hope who-ever gets this fabric is happy with it! Can’t wait to see what comes back my way!!

Another cookbook for the collection???

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 17, 2008

Whilst checking out some fellow Blogtobfesters, I was reading Edward and Lilly and there was a link to The Hungry Girls’ Cookbook.

This looks like another cookbook I’d love to add to my collection. Mind you, I have enough cookbooks to sink a battleship or three!! I have a bit of a thing for cookbooks, drooling over possibilities and looking at things I’ll never make for whatever reason and then experimenting and enjoying the fruits of my labour!

On their website you’ll find some photos from the book – and boy do they look good!!!

From their website: “The Hungry Girls’ Cookbooks are more like works of art than regular recipe books. Each edition is lined with cloth and hand-sewn, and inside you’ll find exciting dishes for the home cook. A crisp green bean, breadcrumb and pistachio salad, a soba noodle soup for a simple and satisfying weeknight meal, a delicious lemon poppy seed cake, and plenty more. These unique books are the work of three friends – Rachel Pitts, Leah Holscher and Katherine Bird – who have combined their love of food to create the recipes, photography and illustrations.”

Check it out I say!!

What flavour popiscle are you?

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 16, 2008

You Are a Cherry Flavored Popsicle

You are sweet and friendly. For you, summer is all about doing your favorite things.
You are a nostalgic person. You love old fashioned things like ice cream trucks.

You savor everything. Every taste of summer, the feeling of the sun, the smell of the beach…
Of all the types, you love summer the most.

A sampling of paper – linky love

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 15, 2008

Just  a few links to share with you today, based around my paper related obsession, which includes cards, journals, notebooks, designer paper for making your own things

  • Notemaker – Melbourne based store – lovely cards and papers
  • Christina Re – a great range of papers and accessories, celebrating 10 years of business, quite a feat for a new to market paper designer and manufacturer (I think so anyway!).
  • Bugart cards – a fabulous range of cards – love the embossed cat ones
  • Corban and Blair – lovely but unfortunately a tad out of my price range
  • Paper Mojo - ohh the choices
  • Wildflower Paper - beautiful papers, stunning colours – have quite a lot of their paper in my paper stash!
  • and lastly for today… – Mosaic Mouse on etsy – a stunning range of Japanese papers at fabulous prices as well.

I might make a bit of a theme of some of my favourite shops.  You should see my bookmark folders – they are huge and out of control – so many beautiful things to be found and lusted after…

If you have any links to share, please let me know…

Tired, no make that exhausted

Posted by: idlenotions on: October 14, 2008

I don’t mean to whinge, but am going to anyways…

I am so exhausted I don’t know what to do with myself.  I’ve had a really rough few nights with little miss Daina.  She goes to bed really easily and well and sleeps well for a few hours, and then is up on and off roughly every hour and a half to two hours. So I’m lucky if I’ve had more than an hours sleep in a row in the last week or so.  I’ve even tried taking her to the other bedroom and curling up on the bed with her. It seems to work for a bit, but I find I don’t sleep as well as I would ordinarily. I’m worried about Claude the cat jumping on the bed and getting to close for comfort.

I hope this sort of sleeping nonsense doesn’t last too long, coz I’m just so darn tired. I’ve even fallen off the Blogtoberfest bandwagon – which I’m rather disappointed about – but sleeping has just been far more important than anything else.

Anyway, she’s having a little afternoon nap, so I might join her and have a nana nap!

Hope you are having a great Tuesday!
